Lazy junior is just starting to build his first Ratrod build in Australia.
The base vehicle is a Triumph standard 10 pick up. or as the Australians call them “utes”
Unfortunately the chassis of the Standard 10 seems to be made of cardboard, well as strong as. Looking at different options to push on the build, and with the OZ rules on modified vehicles, we decided that it would be easier to put the Triumph body on a different chassis.A trip to the local breakers sourced a Mazda 2200 ute for a mere 800 bucks (£400). With a bit of careful measuring, the Triumph body will fit over the Mazda chassis if it is shortened and the Triumph body is widened by about 100mm. How hard can that be.
The power plant will be a v8, good choice, a Holden 4.2 with a 3 speed autobox. Purchased through Gumtree for 500 bucks (£250)
Yep you guessed it, Lazy is in Australia with his son Mark helping to build his first Ratrod, will be interesting how much we can complete in 4 weeks.
With a bit of luck and all fingers crossed I will try to upload some photos tomorrow.
See you soon ……..Lazy
