Well off to an early start, travelling down from Broadwaters to Nerang for day 3 of the build.
Today would be a lot of work for little show. The engine was centered and levelled in the chassis, new engine mounts were fabricated from 6mm plate and tacked into position. Will be fully welded with the engine removed. The rear gearbox mount was offered up, a small section will have to be removed from the cross member when the engine is removed. The front cross member was cut off as would protrude out of the front of the grill, it will be replace with a section of 60mm box when the steel shop re opens.
Next was to cut the Triumph in half, length ways. The cut line was cleaned up with a flap wheel and the body was cut with a 1 mm disc cutter.Thought the body would fall over, but it stood up as the floor was still in at the front. One half of the body was offered up to see how it fitted, not bad. A bit more cutting of the body floor and chassis had the body roughly in place. As it was time for a beer, we gave it a good looking at and looked to see how much more would be required for a perfect fit.
